El Ministerio de Finanzas Publicas de Guatemala informa que el día de hoy se recibió una comunicación telefónica del New York Mellon Bank, en la cual indicaron que los fondos depositados oportunamente para el pago de intereses del eurobono con vencimiento 3 de noviembre de 2020 por un monto de US$15.75 millones, fueron congelados, debido a una orden de la Suprema Corte del Estado de Nueva York, dentro de un proceso de arbitraje entre Teco Guatemala Holdings, LLC y la República de Guatemala.
Al respecto, manifiesta que consciente de su compromiso por honrar sus pagos derivados de la colocación de bonos en el mercado internacional, está realizando las gestiones necesarias a efecto de resolver a la brevedad posible dicho inconveniente legal, manifestando que cumplirá con el pago a sus inversionistas, tal como lo ha hecho hasta la fecha.

Important Communication

The Guatemala Ministry of Public Finance notifies that by means of telephone communication, the New York Mellon Bank advised that the funds deposited in a timely manner for the payment of interests from the Eurobonds with maturity date of November 3, 2020 by the amount of US$15.75 million, were frozen. This follows an order issued from the Supreme Court of the State of New York, within an arbitration process between Teco Guatemala Holdings, LLC and the Republic of Guatemala.
In this regard, states that is taking the necessary steps in order to resolve as soon as possible such legal inconvenience and expresses that will honor its commitment to comply with the payment to its investors derived from the placement of bonds at the international market, as it has done to date.
